Hi all,

Sorry I'm new, I hope I'm not breaking any rules.

I am looking for a week away in Lot-et-Garonne next spring but have no idea where to start really! I am travelling alone so would probably appreciate some suggestions for where to stay for a week.

I am debating whether to drive or fly and maybe hire a car, either way i'm easy really, I just really want to see if I can gain some local expertise!

Hi Davey, I would have thought that TripAdvisor is going to be a better resource for answering this kind of question. They have forums specific to regions/countries/areas which are travel-centric. I certainly use it a lot before I go travelling as well as during my stay.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!
I don't think there are many BE members in the Lot-et-Garonne (or if there are, they are coy about their whereabouts). If you don't get any "local expertise" here, try a dedicated Regional (South Aquitaine) Forum, or follow IVV's advice!

Hey, thank you both for the replies. I know it was a bit of a long shot but I like to go off the beaten track a little and get some local knowledge beforehand! I'm likely just to fly into Bergerac, hire a car and set off for a couple of weeks!

The Mods aren't overly keen on giving direct references to other forums.
I was indeed thinking of that Forum, and it was the first result if the OP googled "expats South Aquitaine"!

I am sure the Mods are not keen to draw attention to other sites but as no-one was able to help the poster then I felt it made sense for him to be directed to a more specific site.

Either that or wait for 'Loy Loy' to read this post, and perhaps offer some advise as his signature indicates a Lot & Garonne location - unless he's relocated since.

Some of the other oldies might remember better, but I seem to recollect some one having their fingers rapped (but very gently) years ago by a Mod who didn't appreciate their encouraging new members to go to rival forums by actually naming them.
Look forward to seeing whether the unwritten rule has been changed since then!

The only way to get a mod here is "Report Post" then if someone is kind enough to grease the wheels on the shared zimmer frame there is a chance one might slip by....

If I were driving to the Lot et Garonne I might be tempted to drive the extra 90 mins to Biarritz. That place is amazing.
