Default Road from Pau to Spain

Hello Everyone

My wife and I are driving down to the Pau area in our camping car at the beginning of September to spend a week or so in the area. Whilst there we thought we might drive over to Spain on the 934. Can anyone advise what the road is like? It appears OK on our maps but that can be deceiving. Is it a "white knuckle" ride on the way up - or on the way down the other side? Supposing the road is civilised, having crossed into Spain, is there a nice town fairly near that is worth aiming for?

Grateful for any advice.

Jack

Its quite an interesting drive but that being said there is a long stretch of harrowing tunnel which personally I would not do with a camper van its old full of pot holes and not that high and wide. Plus you will give your gear box a good run for its money on the way up and your brakes will be shot to bits on the the descent in Spain. From Pau I would head direction Toulouse on the A64 come off at Junction 20 direction St Girons, Foix and at Foix head Direction to Andorra on the N20 there is a new tunnel that cuts through for the road to Barcelona you don't have to go to the top of the Mountains.

Many thanks Ka ora for the information. Will not now be attempting the route but might go up through Andorra which was one of our alternate plans anyway. Again - many thanks.

The info from Ka Ora was certainly sound.
Also, don't forget to fill up with fuel in Andorra, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than France or Spain.
Bon voyage.
