riberac schools

Hi
I'm moving to Riberac in July with my husband and two children age 6 and 3 years. I'm wanting to find out more information regards schools and what i need to do to enrol my girls but am finding little info on the internet. I know there is a local primary school as well as a catholic school called notre dame but does anyone know what these schools are like or point me in the direction of where i can find out more and what i need to do next. Also I'd really like to develop my french so are there any conversation groups/ classes locally? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Tina

Hi, for children in Primaire and Maternelle, you enrol them at the Mairie for the State school, before September, but you may have to attend an interview with the Head beforehand, i.e. before schools break up at the end of June.
I don't know the procedure for the private Catholic schools, but you should make enquiries at Notre Dame as from now, as I imagine they are more "selective" and you'd certainly have to meet the Head beforehand.
Your 6-year old would be starting first year Primaire, when the French children learn to read and write - it might be advisable for her to do last year Maternelle so that her spoken French would be up to scratch?
Hope this helps!:)

Re: riberac schools

Thanks thats useful to know. We're going over in the easter break so will arrange to see the Mairie then. Do you know if theres a website that will tell me more about the specific schools themselves in riberac - I dont seem to be able to find anything other than generalised info on schooling itself. At the moment I dont really feel like I'm making any kind of informed choice as to which one would be most appropriate for the girls and am starting to get a little worried that I might make the wrong choice. This will be such a big deal particularly for my 6 year old and i dont want to make things any more difficult for her.
thanks
Tina

Re: riberac schools

you could perhaps try a more regional forum such as anglo info, where you may find people who are more knowledgeable about specific schools:)
