Never be seduced by a "pretty picture" of property on the web!
It is massive! Can you afford to run a property of that size?
There are so many properties on the market in France, modernised and un modernised.
As OP has said, the French property market is very very different to the UK, properties can sit on the market for years.
Many Europeans have found to their cost, that these very pretty properties are a bottomless pit for draining finances, running costs are prohibitive and trying to sell them on is well nigh impossible.
Please be very cautious.
