PAU and the International School of Bearn
 

Hi everyone,

I am looking for information regarding a potential move to PAU.

-any feedback on the International School of Bearn for a 14-year-old?
-any feedback on the bilingual Montessori school for an elementary-aged kid?
-easiness of finding a house for rent?
-any recommendations for a local estate agent?
-general comments on the city's climate/atmosphere/safety?

Can't help with all your queries but ref:
iii) Check out LeBonCoin/Immobilier/Locations, then 'Rechercer' / Pau 64000 / 'Valider les localisation' to get an idea of what's available to rent. It took me seconds to see there are currently no fewer than 861 hits within a radius of 5klm from Pau. You can then also fllter your search by the type of accomodation required.
v) Lots of general info regarding Pau and meteorological data simply by Googling Pau France. It gets rather nippy in the winter months especially with wind from the Pyrenees. And summers too in recent years are becoming uncomfortable.

Why Pau? Because you will work there?
The Salies de Béarn area is very nice. Lots of expats, smaller scale towns with hardly any criminality. Pau is a big town and there are parts in Pau where you don't want to walk in the evening. Also to grow up Orthez, Salies de Béarn or Peyrehorade (Les Landes) are fantastic. The climate in this part of the Béarn is better than in Pau.
