Just found out that you can now send a parcel via colissimo, leaving it in your own post box for the facteur to collect.

Very good in theory but if you read the leaflet it is a bit complicated. You have to have an approved box which can only be accessed by the facteur and of course only La poste supplies them.
You have to have accurate digital scales and the correct packing and be able to print off the necessary documents. We reckon that by the time you do all that you might as well go to the post office!

Not so, nearly every postbox you can buy in France conforms to La Poste. Try Castorama.
