Re: Next General Strike

As of today Ryanair had not cancelled flight to Nantes on Thursday; they normally notify circa 4 days in advance. With half-term this may have an influence. November 6 being a Saturday, not sure what the strikes will achieve at least for public sector employees. Isn't it also tight apropro the date for legalising the Senate vote.

Hi
the 6th Nov. is "simply" a day of marches, demonstrations, etc... No strikes as such, just general disruption in the streets.
Maybe a final fling (after this Thursday's strike), since the Reform should be legalised this week...

Well, since my earlier post today Ryanair has cancelled many flights and fly-overs for 28th Oct, so I will wait until Saturday 30th, flight late pm that is the alternative, to meet my wife. Thanks DMU re your insight re the 6 November.

Hi all,
According to the radio this morning, the next day of action is scheduled for Tuesday 23rd November, with no definite indication as to what forms it will take - strikes, demonstrations, blockages,... - but all action will be LOCAL on that day, i.e. any time, any place, depending on the mood of the militant Syndicat members.
For the SNCF and Education, an official general strike would have been preferable, at least you know in advance which trains definitely won't be running and which teachers (and dinner ladies) will be absent.:frown:

Any kind of strike is a pain in the rear, but imagine most of us that post are either, living here in France permenantly, retired, or have a holiday home. If you are retired, as I am and living here, then my suggestion is to sit back--and smell the roses --- there is always tomorrow --and if you don't make tomorrow --- well you won't care how many strikes there are anymore.

Even if you are caught up in the phoo-phaa of a strike, it may be frustrating but certainly not life threatening.:fingerscrossed:
