Good Morning - I am moving to the Auvergne in September and would like to purchase a moped -size between 50cc and 90cc - just for my shopping trips etc. Could any one enlighten me if I need a licence. I am over retirement age! and do not have a British licence or provisional.

Any advice gratefully received.

Get yourself one of those Sans Permit Voiture (cars) no license required but insurance is. Little, very easy to park very popular with young mothers around here not fast but nippy in towns. I have been thinking about getting one to see how quick i can make it go and stick some Quad bike wheels on it.

hope this helps - No licence is required for scooters/mopeds that are 50cc or under, and have a maximum speed of 45 kph.
