Default Mechanics NVQ in france

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone can advise if an English NVQ in auto mechanics will be recognised in France? We hope to set up a small specialised mechanics business in Brittany when we move but have heard some qualifications aren’t recognised in France. I can’t seem to find much info anywhere. Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the forum!
A quick search found
L’équivalence des diplômes français – systèmes britannique et américain | Kiwifroggy
which indicates that the NVQ level 1 corresponds to the French BEP which is a diploma taken just before the Bac, probably an equivalent of O-levels, and that GNVQ advanced corresponds to a Bac Technologique ou Professionnel, the equivalent to A-levels.
I've no idea whether this is sufficient for you to set up a business and get professional insurance, and what type of business structure to set up, if the "we" will be working together. Normally young people with this diploma start off as employees...
You should consult your regional Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie
Création d'entreprise, reprise ou cession d'entreprise - Conseils aux créateurs et repreneurs d'entreprise - CCI.fr
click on "Creer votre entreprise" or "L'Auto-Entrepreneur" if only one of you is working.
How's your French?
P.S. It may help if you say who "we" are, whether you intend to buy property, etc...
I've just noticed that GNVQ intermediate corresponds to the Brevet (French O-levels), so the level 1 is between the Brevet and the Bac. Sorry to confuse things....

might help. If you google anything to do with créer entreprise garagiste you should find loads of info.
Your chambre de métiers will advise you what they will accept, they might also ask about your experience so bring as much paperwork with you as you can (previous years' accounts prepared by accountants, tax bills from HMRC, etc).

As DMU says - the business structure would depend on who "we" are. Exactly what you mean by "specialised" and exactly what services you want to offer, might also have a bearing.

Good luck with it.
