Married but kept my maiden name
Hi All,
I kept my name when I got married and I was wondering if it will cause any problems if we move to France with regards to me having a different surname to my husband? He will most likely be registering as a micro entrepreneur and I will be a dependent.

In fact the opposite to be frank French women keep their "nom de jeune fille" on marriage as do a lot of European women Fonctionnaires will fully understand where you are coming from but obviously you will need to produce marriage and birth certificates

We are in the same situation and had to remind both the bank and the tax office that my wife uses her maiden name despite being married. It wasn't a problem as such, but it seems that in some companies and departments married names are allocated to women by default. You simply need to write to them pointing out the mistake and they will change it. Having said that we still receive mail addressed to Mr and Mrs X despite the correspondence inside using our two different family names.

And, as said, make sure you've got your Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate for all Administrations.

Very often now on official forms you will find a box for Nom de jeune fille followed by a box for nom d'usage
