Long Term Rental
My wife and I need to find a long term rental whilst we look for a permanent homee. We had lived in France for 12 years but sold up and moved back to UK as Brexit seemed to mess up our life choice. Having been in the UK for four months the country is driving us crazy!!. Can anyone help us find a house back in France in the Vendee please?
Thank you

Take a look at the "Renting" thread in the Read-Me: Moving to France FAQs above, to have an idea of the paperwork that you must provide for potential landlords. The lease for an unfurnished rental is for 3 years, but tenants can easily terminate the contract earlier. If you didn't want to bring your furniture over while you're searching for your dream home, why not rent a furnished gîte?
Can't help geographically, but the LeBonCoin and PAP (de Particulier à Particulier) sites may give good results for unfurnished houses, and avoid estate agents' fees.

What specifically is driving you crazy? Do share!

Yes your post intrigued me too.
Can we assume that you moved back to UK to be closer to family, a return to your roots? If so I suspect that it's not the country itself driving you crazy but perhaps the location.
I'm an infrequent visitor to England these days but when I am there to visit family, I always find its a beautifully calm, rewarding location. Have you thought about hiring a camper van and finding a new location that may tick all the boxes?

The lack of awareness of the politics, the PC attitudes, the obsession with so called celebreties, and the inanity of UK tv programmes. The UK seems to have been massively dumbed down

Re: Long Term Rental
Notwithstanding the unknown consequences of Brexit, there are practical factors to take into account. Will your healthcare insurance which covered you in France before, still be valid? When you moved back to the UK 4 months ago, did you inform all the French/UK Administrations that you had left France? Since you sold up last year and you weren't here on 1st January 2019, where are you Tax-Resident at present? Whatever, I don't know whether it will be straightforward to get back into the System after B-Day.
Did you live in the Vendée for 12 years? You must have made friends and acquaintances in that time who could advise better than unknown members of a forum who know neither your circumstances nor apparently the Vendée, and can only give general advice, applicable nationally.

Re: Long Term Rental
I'm another returner, I came back to the UK earlier this month. Not specifically because of Brexit although that was a factor in the timing, but mostly because changes to retirement age/NI contribution years since I left the UK, had resulted in me being well short of enough contributions for a full pension, as well as having 6 years longer to work than I had anticipated. So when the changes were announced back in 2011 or whenever, I decided I would have to put in another few years' full time employment in the UK before retiring. However I'm keeping my house in France, and I did get my cds before I left, as a precaution in case I can't hack the UK and decide to go back to France after a few months, in which case I'll call it a visit to the UK and hopefully no harm done (I hope you took the same precaution!). But so far I'm feeling pretty OK about it. I've chosen to live and work quite remote, Of course I see the tabloid headlines and I'm vaguely aware of the dumbdownness and general emptiheadedness and IMHO prejudices and stupidity that's nurtured and fed by the British media, and I find it a bit jaw-dropping how people lap it up, but that's how the UK is - I was aware of it when I lived in France, I'm aware of it now, but I'm not brought face to face with it much more here than I was there, so by and large I can ignore it; live and let live. You could call it going round in blinkers I suppose, but it works for me. FWIW, I would add that I used the blinkers in France too - gilets jaunes, strikes, taxes that make your eyes water, and the rest. Nowhere's perfect. I miss France and overall that's where I would prefer to be if the UK hadn't bu99ered up my retirement planning big time, unfortunately needs must, but still I hope to go back frequently. I'm hoping it won't be too hard to carve out an enjoyable life here in the UK, with beautiful scenery all around me to explore on foot and by bike, my books and music and leisure projects, and virtually nobody outside of work that I need to socialise or even come into contact with if I don't want. Being quite self-contained and a loner by nature probably makes the planning easier, but I do believe that life's what you make it, and blinkers certainly help.
Saying that, of course there are places in the UK where I probably couldn't live and wouldn't try, because I don't think the blinkers would work, attitudes would be too in yer face. You do have to be a bit selective about whereabouts in the UK you settle, but then that's the same whatever country you go to.
Anyway, to the point regarding the rental, I think the easiest would be to look on airbnb / gite sites initially if you want to get something fixed up from the UK. Unless you can find a Brit desperate to rent their house out and willing to forego the usual checks, I suspect you're going to find it very difficult to get all the guarantees etc in place to satisfy a professional landlord or rental agency, and that's not really a thing anyone else can help you with.

Re: Long Term Rental
I think Tweedpipe meant you could hire a camper van and go exploring the UK to see if you could find a more congenial location there.
Perfectly sensible suggestion.
But if you’re set on moving to the Vendée, and you don’t have any contacts on the ground, then as someone has already suggested, you better rent a gîte or do Airbnb for a month or two and take it from there. Even if it were possible to rent something long-term from the UK, you’d be mad to do so without viewing - or sending a good friend to view it - first.
How can UK TV possibly be more inane than French TV?
Is it possible you’re just more sensitive to the horrors of modern life in the UK because you have a perfect understanding of what’s being said around you? There’s loads of dumbness in France. Maybe you just didn’t notice.

I'm all for people living where they're happiest, and if that's France for you then I hope everything goes well - but you don't need to scratch around for silly reasons to hate the UK to justify your choice

You sent me a message but I cannot help you with a rental. I live in New Zealand.
Just to be a little clear here about what BE is for. There is no advertising or promoting on our BE chat forums so it isn't really possible for someone to post about their own rental . Our classified section is currently closed. A Be member may point in the direction of a listing they know of.
It's been a long time but I would suggest whatever the more normal avenues are for finding a rental in France these days is the way to go.
There is a helpful link in the France FAQ section Renting in France. which may be of use
Finally please note that BE is a place for immigrants, migrants and expats to freely chat. If one expresses a point of view or opinion , expect responses & challenges to that. We all do that with a thought for our Site Rule 1.
