Re: Keeping chickens!

Kazzo,
I'm glad you didn't take offense at my sidetracking your post.
I must confess I knew nothing about chickens, except that they they don't crow (my last line being poetic licence) :)
But thanks to your post and others, I've just read through the galinette site, so I know a lot more today than I ever did. One question. Can someone explain why they cannot be left alone for a certain time? Do they stress-out?

After reading your post - and that of Cyrian - I had a sudden urge to burst into verse. Et voila!
It's something I had a habit of doing at work a few years ago - especially if a work colleague retired - I was frequently asked to put together a few humorous verses, which were invariably printed off, framed, and presented to the departing colleague.
Therefore my verses could be handy for you when your chickens eventually reach 65.....;)

Make sure the fence goes at least 50 cm underground or the moles will get 'em. ;)

Oh Tweedy, absolutely no offence taken! Loved it! Will print and frame and put on the wall of the coop!!

And Novo, things get more depressing - moles eating chickens.... but I suspect they only do that if they slip under the fence disguised by a different thread...

I'm honoured.
Let me know when you get a cock, and I'll see what I can come up with.

Oh! I'm horrified. I'm sure there's a forum rule against that. :)

Inspired by Tweedpipe:

There was a young chicken called Ken,
Who wanted to move to Pleyben.
A man with a van
Said "Help you I can",
And now he's contented and zen.

Sorry I can't match his latest remark!

Also, apologies for going slightly off-topic.;)

There will be no cock upsetting my girls when I get them...

Is that allowed Novo?

And DMU - another poet!! The walls of coop will be lined with great literary works of art (or not, as the case may be!!)
