How old is your daughter? If she is from 3 to 10, she'd go to the Maternelle/Primaire of your Commune (visit the Mairie ASAP to enrol her). If she is older, then you'd have to enquire on the spot which Collège/Lycée she would go to.
Do you speak French? Be aware that the unemployment rate in France is very high in all fields and you'd have stiff competition from bilingual French applicants.

Hi everyone!
My name is Kathryn, I am hoping to move to the Cote d'Azur sometime in the not-too-distant future, specifically the Nice/Antibes area. I would really appreciate any advice on jobs specifically. I am currently working as a medical / scientific writer in a med comms agency, and science related jobs would be great, as I have a biology degree. However, I would also be happy with low-wage jobs as a start, such as shop/restaurant work etc, or even english language teaching jobs. I have experience working in shops and cafes in the past. I am very open minded about the field of work!
Je parle un petit peu de français, mais je vais étudier plus en cours du soir en Manchester! I understand to give myself the best opportunities in finding jobs and socialising I need to become fluent in french too, which I am prepared to do.
I am also an advanced salsa dancer, love jazz music, art, swimming, walking and cycling!
Any general advice about planning, jobs, or how to go about making the move, is much appreciated.

Hi Everyone. I've been stalking the site and the French property scene for a few years now and have decided to bite the bullet and put our UK property on the market.
What I thought of was to put everything into storage, rent in France either Chantres or Dordogne region. Find out exactly where we want to live.
Hopefully by then our UK house will be sold.
Then find a property we want in France and move in.
Easy when I say it like that...
your thoughts?
Mike

Your plan certainly does sound easy enough, but a lot of people would advise against selling your UK property in case everything goes pear-shaped here and you'd have nowhere to go back to.
A lot depends on whether you're hoping to work or are retired.
Come back on the main part of the forum and post a new thread which will appear underneath the Read Me threads, and give more info on yourselves. We'll help and advise if we can!

conversation exchange in LYON
Hello everyone!
I am a 35 French mate from Lyon.
I do fancy reading, traveling abroad, going to the cinema, sports, playing the trumpet, practising my foreign languages, getting in touch with international friends…
As I may expatriate sooner or later in an English speaking country iwith my wife , I am looking for practising my English with English speakers on a regular face to face conversation basis.
If required I would be quite glad to give you tips about my city and of course to give you an hand to make you improving your French.
With best wishes!
Philippe

Hi, I'm new to this site. I've joined because I am thinking of moving to Normandy soon, and just wanted to hear about other peoples views on Normandy, leaving the UK etc.. I am not certain of which area but think it will be close to Vire / Vassy. Please get in touch and let me hear your thoughts on moving from the UK to France. Maggie

We have plenty of thoughts on moving from the UK to France, and all depend on your personal circumstances!
Post again under the Read me threads (click on New Thread) and give us more info on yourself. Will you be looking for work, do you speak French, are you retired, have you got children....?
