Default International schools vs local schools?

We are planning to spend a year in France with our 3 children (9, 13), probably around Toulouse, Marseille.

We were thinking of sending the children (after a short French course) to the local schools. I dont know much about the international schooling options available, in general, and was wondering whether anyone has had any experience of both, and might be able to compare them. I am not even sure how expensive they are (an important consideration with 3 children).

Thanks for your help.

international schools fall into the OMG category of cost in general by contrast
private french schools are generally much cheaper than the uk

indeed
the people i know who have sent their kids to private schools do so because their kids need a little more support than in the state sector but personally I felt that the state system was fine

I would recommend State Schools, but if your only coming for a year a shift from English to French and back to English will probably end up knocking them back a Year.
