Default Importing a Vehicle into France

I'm sure this topic will have been covered previously, but I was wondering if anyone can advise on what I need to do to import a motorcycle from Singapore into France. The bike is around 20 months old, I have owned it since new and would like to bring it with me to France.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of this (ie importing a vehicle from a non-EU country) or know where I might be able to get such advice? I'm thinking more about any customs restrictions, registration requirements etc rather than arranging the actual shipment itself, although if anyone can recommend any good shipping companies from Asia that would also be very helpful.

Hi there,
I am about to import my motorbike from the UK.
Well you will need :
Proof of address
Proof of ID
Tax papers (you go to the local tax office and I think you will have to pay VAT as this is coming from outside the EU)
A conformity certificate which means the bike mustn t be over 100bhp (i think).

If you're French is up to speed take a look at Carte Grise on any Prefecture website. Try the Prefecture de Police de Paris their site is very good and up to date. There is also www.service-public.fr

Good luck,
Louis
