you can advertise on BE, there is a classifieds section at the top of the page.
If you do a search on google you will also find lots of websites that you could advertise on. This is one of them

thanks, i should have added that i don't intend to charge for housesits, but will do them for free. animals seem to like me, and it is always interesting exploring a new place. i'm originally from cape town and finding uk a bit grey, would ultimately like to buy in france. rgds, john

yes, it is. i also lived in joburg (went to school in edenvale), then greenside, before moving to cape town. thanks very much for tip about newspaper, hadn't thought of that. somebody offered me a housesit in toulouse which got me hugely excited, rushed off and bought a map of area and made plans, but haven't heard anything more. but something will come up...

thanks, tinabee, i tried both those sites and found they are a bit sneaky, ie will only release replies if you pay $45. i wouldn't mind paying if i knew it was a good site and would get genuine replies, and not spam. rgds.

I don't know about housecarers, but I have seen mindmyhouse recommended on other forums like this one.
