Hotel en route to Dordogne
We’re off to France next week!
Usually I drive without a stopover and am finding it more and more tiring. As we arrive in Dieppe at 5am I can see I’ll be tempted to not stop over again.
However, if we found a nice hotel with swimming pool and good restaurant then I’d be more likely to make the stop and have a break from the driving.
Does anyone know of something suitable say between Orleans and Chateauroux? Not too far off the motorway.

There aren't many lodging options in that area that have a pool, and most of the ones with a decent restaurant appear to actually be in either Orleans or Chateauroux, but there are two hotels that might meet your needs - Hotel - Restaurant Le Moulin de Villierswhich is about 4km east of A71/E9, just outside Nouan-le-Fuzelier, and Relais Saint Jacques which is on A20/E9, in the northern suburbs of Chateauroux but it is adjacent to the airport, so perhaps not ideal.
Note on the web pages linked, for both hotels, on the "amenities" tab, the outdoor pool is listed as a separate amenity on the right side, not grouped with the other outdoor amenities.

If you were taking a more westerly route you could have stayed for a night at the campsite where I'm currently working - 5 star, luxury mobile homes, lovely pool, good restaurant.... and EuroTrash there to greet you, what more coutd anybody ask.
But it's way off your route.

Thanks ET - pity it’s way off because it’d be good to meet you! Maybe pm me with actual address and who knows - we’re always game to visit different areas - in fact Lesley is flying home from Bordeaux after a few weeks and we are toying with idea of a few days at the coast beforehand.

Re: Hotel en route to Dordogne
Just thought I’d give an update in case anyone else had similar ideas….
we thought with petrol prices being so horrific we forego the added expense of stopping off at a hotel en route and did the drive in one go
West London to Newhaven - 2 hours
ferry to Dieppe - 4 1/2 hours
Dieppe to Coux et Bigaroque (15 miles west of Sarlat) - 8 1/2 hours actual driving but with quite a few breaks as it was only me doing the driving (other half won’t drive in France - probably best for both our nerves!)
