GDF electricity offer
I have contracts with EDF for electricity and GDF for gas, each on direct debit. I got a call the other day from GDF, followed by the paper work to offer me electricity at the same rate as I currently pay but fixed until December 2013 ie. no rises for 2 years.
Has anyone else had this, and would a switch to GDF be hassle free? They claim to sort out the transfer and cancellation with EDF, and that there is no risk of getting cut off. The offer is only valid if signed up within 2 weeks - feels like pressure sales which I generally avoid as a possible con, but this seems genuine enough from what I have read. I am thinking of calling EDF to ask if they can match or beat this with their own offer. Aagin, does anyone know of any offers being proposed by EDF along these lines?
I am thinking of possibly installing solar PV panels in the next year or two as part ofextension works and would apply for the feed-in tarrif. I will have to check into whether switching suppliers would affect this possibility.

Re: GDF electricity offer
Given the current issues with all power suppliers, including EDF, in the UK, the complexities of the tariffs and that each house is now paying £100 p/a added profit (gross) to the companies, I'd say look before you leap. Isn't the adage, if it sounds too good to be true, then it most probably is.
No harm in checking with EDF though.
