French weather lore
The French saying "Noël au balcon, Pâques aux tisons" didn't work this year on either count. Theoretically you should be able to eat outside on one or the other of these Fêtes. But here in the Languedoc, it poured hard at Christmas and has been pouring hard since Good Friday... I don't mind, in fact, as it's good for the garden, but I pity visitors and tourists. Hope the weather is better elsewhere in France this Easter weekend.
Other weather-wise sayings include: "En avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil; en mai, fais ce qu'il te plaît" (one month ahead of "Ne'er cast a clout..."), and "Une hirondelle ne fait pas le printemps" (one season ahead of swallows' arrival in the UK). Can anyone add more French weather lore?

Weather was beautiful yesterday morning in Paris, but clouded over in the afternoon. It's not too bad today, but rained overnight.

Driving to Perigueux last wednesday I saw what I thought was a beaver. After stopping the car and tracking back on foot I discovered it was a Marmot. In the US they are called groundhogs.. I have not seen the sun since.
Is this an omen?

I nearly ran over one driving in extreme mountain mist in the Haute Pyrenees last summer - I was surprised by how big they are. I can't say I've seen a lot of sun since, so there could be a connection!

We had rain all days and nights since Good Friday, this morning it's a bit brighter but not looking very promising we were hoping to strim the grass today at our plot of land - anyone know if there are laws against working in the garden noisyly on Easter Monday

I was hoping the rain would scare off the tourists, especially the bloody awful Spanish drivers that insist on driving everywhere at ten km an hour unless they are going round a corner when they brake hard to a stop then slowly pull away to get round the bend. But no, they are still out there, walking round in the pouring rain. Go home!!! Let me park my car within ten miles of my house!!!!
It is improving now, slowly, the weather that is. The cars with the E on their number plates are still struggling to park straight.
