Default French TV

A few years ago I opened a thread here on interesting French tv, and from what I've been watching and thoroughly enjoying over the last few weeks, think it might be time to share another gem of a series.
'Speakerine' (The Speaker)

This series takes place in the 60's and revolves around ficticious characters in the RTF tv studio, and in particular the popular lady tv announcer Cristine Beauval. Sometimes adulated, and decried by others, she is being persecuted by a mysterious character.
A protected, true icon of the small screen, she is seen as a symbol of the evolution of woman in society of the 60's.
Suddenly she faces a break-up of her family life, and a violence to which she was not prepared. Between struggles, betrayals and political games, she's spared nothing in the real tv world, instrumentalized by power and deceit.
This imho is an impressive production, which rates up there at the top with the likes of 'Les Hommes de l'ombre' (Spin) and 'La Mante' (The Mantis).
For those with a reasonable knowledge of French, I advise not to miss it.
THIS takes you to the catch-up tv link of ep. 1.
Brief summary: Under the tv spotlights, Christine's body seemingly appears to fall, covered in blood. A few days earlier, her husband Pierre was named Mondovision's manager by his friend Éric Jauffret, Minister of Information. This event is to revolutionize telecommunications, thanks to a satellite link between France and the United States. The promotion of Pierre Beauval will completely disrupt the family. Christine finds out her young daughter is having an affair with the much older Minister of Information - who in turn is linked to a house party in which a young girl - a friend of the daughter - is found murdered.
Ep. 2
The 'body' of Christine found in the studio was a macabre staging. Why was she a target? Is one seeking through her, to reach her husband, who was close to President De Gaulle? Her friend Michèle, director of programs, shows her letters of insults, addressed over recent months. Why all this hatred? Christine remembers an RTF technician who had harassed her a few years ago and whom she arranged to have fired. She decides to go see him. Her friend, journalist Philippe Lefebvre, accompanies her ...

The last 2 episodes will be screened next Mon 20:55 on France 3.

Links to episodes 3 & 4 to follow.
