French state pension

I wonder if anyone here is getting a French and British state pension?

I started the process in France in April this year for a pension due to be paid from August but they still haven't been able to tell me what I will get.

In the last conversation I had with Carsat they explained that they needed to get my contribution history from the UK. They said that this would not affect my eventual UK state pension at all (which I won't get for another 3 years) but it would make a considerable difference to my French pension.

I have only paid 6 years contributions in France but I have paid the full 30 years in the UK (yes I know this may change before I get my UK pension).

Does anyone have any experience of this and/or any idea by how much this could affect my French state pension?

I can't help, but have the same worries as I have no private pension. I am 3 years short of a full UK pension I think.

Hi, I'm the opposite. I paid about 5 years' contributions in England and 35 years in France. When I started the process, the S.S. fellow found my UK history on his computer straight away. He couldn't tell me how much would come separately from England, but gave a good estimate of the basic French pension (not counting the compulsory "Supplémentaire" nor "Cadre" Pensions which are paid separately).
I don't think the amount of your French State Pension will be affected by what you'll receive from the UK, it will depend entirely on your côtisations in France, but the fact of having done the necessary "trimestres" in the two countries will enable you to receive a few extra €€€.
(P.S. By dint of having had two children, I "earned" several trimestres and could retire that much earlier, but this only counts for ladies!)

Oddly enough I was told I would get 10% more pension by dint of having 3 children (and I'm male!). I've no doubt when I get the pension it'll be about as easy to understand at the taxe fonciere bill!

Not true any more. Gender equality (and a little help from the EU no doubt) means that now those awful men are also entitled to a bonus for having contributed to the upbringing of their offspring, even though everyone knows that they don't deserve a brass farthing, since they never lift a finger to help.
Incidentally, if you work as a French civil servant, there is no separate state pension.

Indeed. Thanks for that, though I do find smilies somewhat irritating. I should have used this one:

Have you noticed that all the smilies are blokes?

This has changed since my time, then. But OH did have extra "parts" in the Income Tax field, as he has 5 children in all, but they all declare separately now and, alas, he gradually lost this little perk over the years....

I have made some progress on answering my original question in this thread and for anyone in a similar situation I attach a couple of links (in French) which explain how it should work:-

La retraite des expatriés | La retraite en clair

La retraite des expatriés dans des pays de l'union européenne : un exemple | La retraite en clair

I should perhaps also send these to my local Assurance Retraite who did not seem to understand the system either. ;)

Those working as AE in France should take note of this thread, not forgetting the social charges it will cost you for life too.

BTW Peabrain it's not a finger men have to lift to contribute to children, it may be a small contribution but it means everything

Re: French state pension

I receive both my UK State and French state pensions together with the "complementaires" and other company pensions I contributed to whilst in the UK. I had problems getting my UK pensions . Pen had to be put to paper to the Minister of Works and Pensions of the day. The French was almost automatic just needed to supply bank details and when it came to my wife's turn, CARSAT rang to inform us that we did not need to supply certain documents as they already had these when I applied for my pension.
