www.leboncoin.fr

I'd imagine that a Land Rover Defender might be tricky though.

Something a bit like THIS Cant say I'm keen on them, I also won't accept bids or sell to anyone here on Fleabay as to be honest it's been nothing but a nightmare.

I think for that kind of second hand car, and for any second hand car actually, the UK would be a better option.

Yes, I'm starting to come to that conclusion. You see loads of defenders on the roads here but they cost so much more than back in the UK, bizarre.

the market for second hand cars is very strong here in France, unlike the uk.. hence the inflated prices

I'll be in the market for a second hand car this year, is there a neighbouring country to France: Germany? Belgium? Holland? etc., where you can get a better deal without too much hassle importing the car back to France?

Hi G

Germany isn't too bad especially for the BMWs/Mercs etc, but I think that for a bargain the UK is the best option. Loads of expats from europe have gone back to the UK with their cars which, being LHD are pretty much useless over there so they sell them off cheap. If its a French car the paperwork would be simple, otherwise its just a question of going to the prefecture, and filling out a simple form for the "passage aux mines".
