Default A few days in Dordogne

Hi all, we have a family reunion planned later this week in the Dordogne, close to Montignac to be more precise. Thinking about possible activities for our group, which includes a mix of kids from 6 to 18 and their parents and grandparents, I see we are close to Lascaux for visiting the caves and also not far from the Dordogne river (or maybe the Vezaire?) for renting canoes. We have previously been to the Quercyland water park at Soulliac for the younger ones. Just wondering if there are any "hidden gems" that locals could suggest and which might not feature in the tourist guides?

HI, sorry that no one is coming up with any "secret places to visit" near Montignac, but it sounds as though you've got some good public ones lined up! Can't help personally, have a good time!
(P.S. A minor point, but it's spelt Vézère!)

Sorry, I had left by the time your message came in. Just got back and can confirm it is in fact spelled Vézère Stayed in a great location at La Chapelle Aubareil and dropped into the international music festival at Montignac, and that whole valley has some great spots such as St-Leon-sur-Vezère and Peyzac-le-Moustier, highly recommended for a few days away. The Vezère seems quieter than the Dordogne valley and we stayed away from Sarlat and Souillac as heard it was very crowded, crowds and heat don't mix well in my book.
