We live near Mauriac in the Auvergne region, and are desperately looking for like minded people around the area who love dogs and would be willing to dog sit for each other from time to time. We have found some lovely people to help out over Christmas, but unfortunately they are a 3 hour drive away.
If you live around the Cantal/Correze/Puyde Dome or somewhere reasonably close, please get in touch.

We often used to look after dogs for our friends in UK, and thoroughly enjoy their company.

We have the same problem, we live in 82 a small village called Lexos, which is about 3 hours from you together with one dog and two cats. Dont suppose the person you mentioned who helped out at christmas is anywhere near us. Would be interested in contacting them if they are.

The dog sitters we used were at Monsegur, which is about 40 minutes drive South West of Bergerac; so if you are heading West towards the Atlantic coast/Bordeaux they would be well situated for you. We are about 1 and 3/4 hours drive North East of you near Mauriac (Dept 15). If you were heading North (to UK for example) we would be roughly on route for you and would happily dog/cat sit. Unfortunately our own (elderly) dog died last week so we'd probably spoil yours rotten!! So we would be deighted to dog-sit for you.
There is, we've recently discovered a Dog-Sitters "Association" although there appear to be few members in the Centre of France. You can find them at www.dog-sitting.asso.fr
