Destruction de guepe
Can anyone give me an idea on call out charges for nid de guêpes please? It seems the trends locally are charging 250 euros for call out and destruction. I thought the first guy was taking the you know what but seems to be a consistant charge. Any thoughts on this?
We are trying to do it ourselves gradually but have a feeling as winter draws in they will disappear anyway, leaving us a good opportunity to get rid of the nest ourselves and fill in the hole in the crepi? |
Re: Destruction de guepe
I don't know the answer bobbi. But around here the mairie will arrange for the removal of hornets. And our local apiculteur takes the bees. Could either help? 250 Euros seems an awful lot.

Re: Destruction de guepe
Well 2 mayors have given us names of destruction companies and as far as i know they (the mayor) only deal with hornets as we have a leaflet on their window stating this. I really am not sure about Apiculteur? Our neighbour keeps bees locally but probably at 80 is not agile enough to climb a ladder and get onto our roof the destruct them! He did say the Pompiers used to dispose of nests but no longer.mI think our neighbour would of come up with an idea if he knew.

Re: Destruction de guepe
Did you ask your mayor about paying for this service? According to this article, the assurance habitation doesn't cover it but mayor/conseil general might. Worth asking? Or at least ask the companies what they know about that.

Re: Destruction de guepe
It's my belief that unlike bees, wasps do not overwinter as a colony. All the wasps will soon die off from lack of food and only the queen will survive. She will leave the nest and hibernate somewhere and if she survives the winter is unlikely to go back to the same nest site.
