Depot Ventes
Lived here for 4 years and never been in one. How do they work then? One's just opened up close to home and I'm curious....

Re: Depot Ventes
If you have items for sale you can take them along or have them collected if they are large. You choose the price you wish to sell them for and the Depot Vente provides the display space and hopefully the customers. You pay a percentage on the goods you sell which is all agreed and documented up front. The items remain your propertyuntil sold. The Depot Vente may decide that, after a couple of months, if things haven't sold they then want the space back so you have to take your goods back . In some cases you can sell/give them to the Depot Vente and they can then set their own price. The latter just depends on their set up. You may also decide that you want them on sale for a lower price as there is no haggling on he set price.
You can buy things for some good prices. My friend bought a cream leather sofa in brand new condition for 100 euros. I reckon having a Depot Vente in the area is an asset. |
Re: Depot Ventes
Thanks Brenda, sounds like it's a good idea. May nip down there then and see what I can get for my clutter! :sneaky:

Re: Depot Ventes
They do vary quite a bit. We have one just on the outskirts of Cahors and it's mainly rubbish at high prices:(

I can't be arsed with getting up early and off to a vide grenier. This sounds a much more civilised way of raising some dosh! |
Re: Depot Ventes
Something a little bit like that opened up opposite me a few weeks ago, although they sell people's odds and sods on eBay.

The decent stuff is priced like a dutch auction eg 100E for 4 weeks, then 85E for the next four if unsold and 70E for 4 more. Then they reclaim the space. We bought a few things there last year and hope to find more this year. Val lives there.:rofl: |
