Compost bins
Don't suppose France is like the UK and offers subsidised compost bins through the "council"? If not, any good places to buy on of a reasonable size other than Casto etc? thanks

Re: Compost bins
Ok brill thanks. Also, do you know if there is a french equivalent to Garotta? We have chickens and this time of year the waste is much more and is not mulching down quick enough. Can order on line but so expensive there must be an equivalent here?

Re: Compost bins
We have a large HM one and a smaller one fro SIRTOM which cost very little and also came with a kitchen bin. It is warm enough here not to have to bother with activator if you build the heap correctly.

Unfortunately I don't have much time on my hands to build a compost heap efficiently. However the accelarator appears to be problem too as the heap is too big now and needs the accelerator in small layers. I await for the new bin and start again. Always a problem in the Winter with more hens bedding than Summer

Re: Compost bins
Thanks for the help guys. We collected our bin from SICTOM I think it was this week along with a small indoor composter for kitchen waste and a quite detailed leaflet on how to manage the composter year round. Noted they also do bags of compost, not that we need them with chickens but never the less a good idea.:goodpost: Very helpful service.
