Carte Grise/Prefecture

Hopefully someone will know this. I am finding it tricky to get to my prefecture and if I do have a day when I can get there in between work my wife can't. I understand I can make a RDV instead of waiting, but if I am wanting to put my wife on the CG too does she need to be present as well, or can I take her ID with me when I go? Not wanting to go in then finding there is a hitch with something like this.

Since the garage can do this on your behalf (and they just take a photocopy of your passport) I would have thought there is no problem for you do it on your wife's behalf with her original passport.

I would just mention in passing that larger garages can now do the carte grise on their own premises and no longer need to go to the prefecture themselves.

This is a small garage and we are going in to do it all. The garage was outside of our area, so easier for us to go in. Just the question of ID as usual!!! Thanks for your help.

+1
Garage just took photocopies of our passports and did it all for us.
We didn't go near the prefecture.

It's been a while now but I'm sure I took nothing extra with me when I registered our main car in joint names, just put both on the form with mine first.

Can't really think why it would be necessary to either.

Thanks all. They just needed my wedding certificate and my passport as a second driver. All done now
