In a way I can identify with those who dislike yurts.
On my morning walks with the dog, I sometimes pass a house where one morning a very large yurt seemed to appear practically overnight like a giant magic mushroom.
In fact that particular house was new a little over 16 months ago, together with 3 similar new houses on adjacent plots. Within weeks the other houses were neat and tidy, as were their gardens over the next 12 months or so. Not so the house in question.
Piles of other untidy stuff rapidly accumulated, and then two very noisy dogs appeared, followed by a dozen hens and a cockerel in what looked liked a hasty makeshift lash-up. And now there's this blooming great Mongolian style yurt in broad view of neighbours and passers-by, which imho doesn't 'fit-in'. I think it would have been more socially acceptable had the owners installed it behind trees, rows of hedges etc, in a more discreet location.
If I was a neighbour and saw that, together with the other garden artifacts every time I looked out of my lounge windows - I'd have more than a few words to say, and steps to take.
Lighter fuel & Swan Vestas immediately come to mind......
