buying a car in France
Hi, anyone knows the complete procedure when buying a French registered car from a a private seller (located in France) ? More specifically, i need to buy and then drive the car in another EU country. Currently not living in France. Also, how you can obtain insurance cover in such a case? Any answer will be much appreciated. Thanks

If you don't live in France you will need to export the car to the country where you do live, and register it and insure it there.
I guess the first step would be to approach insurers in your country with details of the car (maybe get the seller to send you a photo of the carte grise) to arrange insurance from the date of purchase.
This https://www.ecartegrise.fr/blog/cart...ir%20ce%20fait. seems to explain what steps the seller can take if he wants to get the vehicle recorded as no longer on the road in France. Like most things to do with car registration it needs to be done online via ANTS.
Once you have your insurance and the purchase process has been completed and you have the receipt and everything, you can drive the car to your own country and follow the import process there.
Or that's what it looks like to me but I have never done this...

Any particular reason for purchasing from a private seller rather than an approved dealer? Agreed there are rogue garages, but there are certainly far more rogue private sellers who revert to all sort of scams to make you part with your money.
Over the years in France we have made two excellent purchases from private sellers and later also made satisfactory sales to 3rd parties over on-line platforms, but the all important keyword is vigilance!
A rapid search brought up the following links, which highlight just a few of the popular scams and tips to avoid them.

If you do proceed, pls provide feedback on your experience in order to advise others. Good luck!

I'll come in at this point and say yes, a dealer 'revendeur' can make it so easy for a buyer and do everything, but not always strictly within the law.
So many buyers prefer to go to a dealer 'vendeur professionnel' to facilitate the purchase of a vehicle, and unwittingly get scammed. The internet forums are full of such buyers who have been ripped-off in France, not only purchasing from individuals but also from so-called 'dealers'.
Google searches with 'garages arnaques france'; 'faux garages'; 'mandataire escroc'; 'garages fantomes'; etc, etc can be very eye-opening for buyers.......
