Bacon sandwiches, with crispy bacon, and bacon fat on the bread.

Don't you have boudin noir in your neck of the woods? I can't stand it, but whenever I'm in England, I have a binge of fish and chips, full English breakfast, and all types of stodgy puddings. With all that to consume, I can forget the lack of real French baguettes!;)

Yes, boudin noir is nice but different - it doesn't have separate chunks of fat. They must homogenise it or something, so in a way it's nicer cos it's greasier :sneaky: - but - sometimes - you just want a chunk of FAT.

:goodpost: I couldn't agree more. Funnily enough, we are back in the UK next week for our son's wedding on the 11th. Although there isn't curry at the wedding ( why not ?) I am really looking forward to a stonking curry, or maybe 2, :thumbsup:at some point over the week.

There are chunks of fat in the boudin noir for sale in one of our charcuteries.... I do actually like boudin blanc, it's the nearest I've found in France to German/Swiss/Austrian Bratwurst, although it's not based on veal, but pork....
Oh dear, this thread is getting out of hand.....

Ok - Sorry.
Back to the OP.
If bobbi2 fancies UK-style sandwiches then good for her.

Absolutely. Although it's hard to picture going back to the UK for the first time in yonks and driving off the ferry drooling with anticipation for ... not a stonking hot curry ... not fish and chips ... not a pint of Tetley's (do they still make Tetley's?) ... not a full English ... but ... a cheese and tomato sandwich. :britflag:

Sweet and sour prawn balls, Deep fried crispy mussels, Mongolian fried lamb going to the Chinese is just not the same and locally we are stuck with Chinese restaurants that are buffet menu's and not nice
