They own a small section of wood next to ours - about a year ago I saw them take their tractor, dig a hole, put something in it and cover it with a large mound of earth. Unfortunately I didn't see what they put there, but I'm sure it would be rubbish or something toxic.

We had a similar problem with a local farmer. Fortunately we are very good friends with our Mayor who is very hardworking. He said it's unlawful and went and had a stern word. Problem solved.

Glad it panned out for you Frenchie51. So far no more bonfires, although the other week when I walked past the neighbour with his wife and said hello, I did get completely blanked, which didn't come as any big surprise.
