Orange Juice only comes with Tequila and Sunrise is always a good time to start

No doubt business'll pick up in a while, the bar's only been open a few days - we'll catch up with your Happy Hour attendance, you'll see!
It's a bit early, but I'll have a rosé du Languedoc, please, barman!

So is there a general time when aperitif time begins in France?

I used to go for a drink with our agents sometimes after leaving the office but it was any time really ... could have been 5, 6 or 7pm.

Well it's past 5pm now so that's good enough for me ... un petit blanc please barman.

Sounds a bit like some of the old locals here that sip Grappa in the bar for breakfast and then move onto red wine whilst they have a round of cards.

Grappa for brekkie - uggghh - it's bad enough at the best of times !

Have a drink on me Val - or are they all still on the house ?

Pouilly Fuissé? Solutré? Maybe I'll join you! (my OH's daughter used to live in Macon and Solutré, so our cellar was well stocked - note the past tense...).

In the past, the local vignerons here in the Hérault produced plonk, but a few do a nice Chardonnay now, not to mention the rosé.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought that although huge amounts of alcohol are not advisable with antibiotics - alcochol is not completely prohibited. I have been told that a glass of wine or lager will not stop the antibiotics from doing their job - but they might make you feel a bit more pissed or drowsy.

This is NOT scientific research. This is just what I have heard in the bars here and the old locals that think Grappa is a medicine. All Italians are hypochondriacs anyway and most old local yokals wouldn't think twice of mixing medicine with grappa - after all - grappa cures all ails

There are a couple of antibiotics that you really shouldn't take with alcohol - Metronidazde is one of them. Alchohol increases the rate drugs are excreted from the body or it could slow down the rate the drugs are absorbed.

After all that hard work I fancy a nice glass of Saumur Champigny please
