Default BBC iPlayer no longer accessible

Sorry if there is already a thread about this.

We have been watching programs on BBC iPlayer for years thanks to the free plug-in Beebs (with Chorme). The BBC have recently toughened up the acces to their site and Beebs no longer works. Researching Beebs, it now looks you have to pay 4.99 a month to use Beebs. Has anyone recently used this purchased method? Does it work now that the BBC has restricted access?

Does anyone know of another (free) method to access iPlayer?

I'm in the UK at the mo, but from Portugal if found another free extension called Telly similar to Beebs and two free VPN extensions, iNinja and MakeMe. The BBC is targetting VPNs, so any that aren't fast on their feet get blocked. It's a PITA - especially when, like me, you have paid your license and just want to watch from abroad.

I watch BBC with a VPN. Sometimes it doesn't work and then I have to change the location on the VPN.
