The annual chore

Those who know of my affliction (illectronism) will rejoice with me when I announce that I managed to do my Déclaration de Revenus on-line today.
After the fiasco last year, when I didn't manage to declare my home help, gardener, etc... and found myself with an increased amount to pay due to the absence of Crédit-d'Impôts, I made an appointment with the Tax Office for assistance. But my recent success at renewing my British Passport on-line boosted my confidence and I was able to cancel my RV with a big Oufff....
Can't wait for a repeat performance next year.....

You have to be cautious with tax declarations. I was just fined €1300 by the Italian tax authorities for trivial mistakes on a 2021 declaration. I wonder if the French tax authorities are more forgiving?

No they are not!
Last year, they demanded what the computer had calculated, and we entered into a long correspondence to justify my mistake. In the end, they accepted to take it into account and I paid the "normal" amount of Income Tax....

philat98 France has an ongoing campaign highlighting the "right to make mistakes" … https://www.tarn.gouv.fr/Demarches/O...oit-a-l-erreur

So long as your actions are not actively malicious or fraudulent, mistakes need not result in penalties.

The advice here is to talk to impots whenever possible. They are there to help.
