Advise On Burglar Alarms
We were thinking of installing a home burglar alarm some time ago, and having heard of several break-ins recently in our very small town and also neighbouring areas, the decision to 'act now' is getting higher priority.
We've had one installation quote for a System called Tyxal Kit 30 by a pro handy-man who has installed 2 such systems and says it's excellent value for money. Ours is a 4 b'room detached property and quote is almost 2.5k € for kit & installation.
Found very little on Google for this system, and fear it may be cheap&cheerful but shortlived.
Stepped into a specialist shop today, and outlined our needs. The system recommended was a wireless monitored Odyssée by Daitem. Picked up a catalogue as didn't have time to get a price quote. I get the impression this is quality equipment and Google returns loads of hits for this material and model.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these systems, good or bad?
One thing to add is we have a large, impressive dog, which gives us a certain sense of security, but can't permanently rely on that when we're not at home. We were told that with the Daitem Odysée system there's an optional infra-red detector which will disregard any movement by a domestic animal of less that 40 kgs. This may be BS as the catalogue only indicates an optional pet movement detector for pets of less than 25kgs. although there may be others.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have a client who was broken into last year and has had "something" installed. When I say "something", its because I'm not too sure what kind of system they have, but if I remember rightly its a rental operation. You pay a monthly installment for an alarm thats fitted to your needs, and the installment gives you access to other related services as well. As I say I'm not 100% sure but I'll try and find out
W'ere visiting French friends Fri for New Years Eve 'knees-up', and I believe they have a system installed. Will find out more too, and post their experience for anyone else who may be interested.

A monitored service would be the way to go, As it might gee the Gendarmes up a bit. Around here two or three days is the response time.
