If it is under the water-line then pouring vinegar into the water may help. I will use the acid then maintain with vinegar I guess so it won't come back. |

There are plenty of them in the countryside in the UK as it's not practical to run mains drainage that far out of towns and villages. Plenty of farms have their own spring water as well..

Personally I use "détartrant surpuissant" gel or poudre by Starwax, but any commercial détartrant can be used, provided it says "compatible fosse septique" on the label.
