You don't notice the heat out on the job. And you can splash a bit of water out on yourself.

2 big ones 1 NE of the city at Kelmore, 1 SE in Bunyip heading to Warragal.
Smoke has joined and is all over us now. You can see the smoke on the weather (rain) radar.

I was out to Narre Warren North this morning. We've sent another crew back to same location 20mins ago. Now Narren Warren East has a call.

I've been at the station since 11am and am at home to get a few things.
The boss is down in the suburbs and who knows in theory this might be the last time I see my house standing...(worst case scenario if these fires get out of control).

Stay safe. I'm heading back to the station now.

Lots of rumours on days like these. Apparently Harkaway has been told to fill gutters as the Narre Warren East call is on Berwick rd. Probably rumour. CFA website have not update urgent advice for this location. Last night Gembrook were considering evacuating but the Bunyip fire is going SE now.

From stn - we're still faraway yet. It would have to be very bad to get here but the next 2-3 hrs are crucial.

The air has gone dark brown here and there's a smell of smoke, but probably coming from far away

Change on the way.....Geelong & Avalon down to 35C....but very strong sustained SW winds to go with it....not sure how that effects the fire situation?

....and it has arrived, with a 15 degree drop in less than 20 minutes !

Temperature relief for us thank goodness.....let's hope the change in wind direction does not cause unexpected problems on the fire fronts

oh no, you poor thing.
. ...

It's an incredibly dry heat.

I honestly don't know what it is like to endure extreme heat (40°C +) ....(That is what Hell is like?) hope Aussies start to love living in an oven.

Seriously, it isn't fun to watch to see you guys struggling like that - even if I don't live there (any more). is of concern to us all.

And it’s not surprising I’ve met quite a few Aussies recently who moved to Welly - Escape from a Heat Wave

Well. It has been a really nice day here. The capital woke up to a warm morning Saturday with a cool breeze. No one can be expected to stay indoors on such a pleasant day! - went out for a walk (to have sushi ) & a very brief shopping trip.. bought a complete set of Beethoven's 32 piano Sonatas by Wilhelm Kempff . It was a lovely day.

.... pray you get a nice gentle rain to cool off. ...

It's lovely here in Adelaide now, only 31.7 degrees. I really hope that's the last of our heatwave, don't think I could stand anymore 40+ days after the past 3 weeks

That's for sure. In my years of paragliding and watching aerologic charts and all of the bits that help determine what the cloud base for the day is going to be, I don't think I have ever seen a negative dew point before ! Then I don't think I have seen the relative humidity as low as 5% before either

DewPoint: The dew point is the temperature a parcel of air needs to be cooled to in order to extract water out of it. At 5pm today, the humidity was so low, it would have had to go to -2.6 degrees for that to happen. Bizarro !
