Default Spare time pursuits...

Well my first Jet Lagged free weekend since I got back from the Old Dart.

I'm orf to my Daughters Gaffe in the City at Spencer St, To discuss plans for her wedding in March.... I think I have to arrange the cars and booze... but thats all cool.

Anyways I'm looking forwards to the free time afterwards.... I think we'll do a roof top cider bar... I think there are a few choices in the CBD. Maybe a Laneway eatery..... Menu posted later

Party tomorrow night.... 21st house party.... I'm not exactly relishing that one. A two hour appearance is required according to my wife.

So what are your plans for your spare time this weekend... or indeed in the week.... outdoor, sporting, recreational, whatever ?

Sitting in tullamarine I think ( flying to qld for business ) weather in qld is massive storms and odd tornado. I bet flight is delayed, diverted or cancelled.

Should be some magnificent turbulence.

Looking forward to it, once I get there, staying at our acerage, most magnificent setting to be in tropical storms, amazing place and totally private, i now call it the retreat. We have pictures of it around 100 years ago, the land is exactly the same.

Went to a bar in the city last weekend that served drinks with syringes, in an old mental asylum.

Ended up getting stuck to the floor.

Playing cricket, then going to the cricket, and around that, attempting to keep the strife and child happy with a bit of beach or park time.

Tonight is movie night, at the request of the smalls; they're currently arguing about what to watch. Tomorrow we're off to buy a fish tank (I've caved to pressure for a pet) then we'll probably go swimming. I fancy a night off cooking tomorrow, so will try and convince Mr GG to have a takeaway curry for dinner on Saturday. Sunday, First Born has a violin lesson and then no plans. The Maritime Museum usually has craft on a Sunday, though, so we might head into the city and do that. I don't know how I stand the pace, I really don't ...

I bought myself a new toy on Tuesday so I'm going to learn how to ride it.

Well the weekends are just extensions of my week as far as pursuits go but I get more recovery time. This weekend:

Sat
6am. 3km of drill sets at the pool.
9am ( we start earlier in BST) 50 mile mixed pace ride, fairly hilly.

Lunch with family. Afternoon take daughter put for play in the park/walk whilst Mrst TB relaxes. ( puddle suits are gifts from the gods )

Late afternoon would normally be run drills at the track but recent surgery has not allowed that, so probably clean the winter bike followed by a session of core work.

Evening just playing with daughter, giving her dinner.

Night: some TV or guitar playing.

Sun. Alternate Sunday's are either 80 mile hard chain gang ride with racing club or an early run followed by taking daughter to Water Babies ( Mrs TB does this when I don't race/ride).

Family lunch. Daughter sleeps, I hit the pool.
Sunday afternoon, family walk.
Sunday evening, turbo sets in winter ( recovery sets) or LSD run in summer.

Every 4th week is a breakdown weekend so much lighter on sport and heavier on family.

Well today and tomorrow are the local beer festival....72 ales, numerous ciders and about 2000 people will attend...beautiful setting overlooking the river.....I will be helping out and, no doubt, sampling a few

I will also continue tying flies in readiness for the Trout Fly fishing season which starts next month

May well wander down to the Ouse washes to see the thousands of swans, and other birds, which spend the winter here.

Maybe a bit of walking as well....no particular timetable (apart from the beer festival) as I can go any day now I'm retired

Some interesting varied pursuits there..... Right now I'm stuck here listening to the finer points of a wedding being discussed between my wife and daughter.... whilst champing at the bit to get to the cider bar and or restaurant. T'was a carrot on a stick that seems less and less likely to eventuate.... well the way I thought it was going to..

Only thing I'm required for is choosing the father daughter song.... and saying yes to mounting purchases as the detailed list gets bigger and more costly. Wonder if I should try saying no to something.

Best not !

haha, I was in Oz when my sister's wedding was being prepped in the UK in the 80s. Apparently the 'helping' from the Mums on both sides got so bad that my sister just threatened to call the whole thing off and get married in a registry office. Wisely, they backed off The Dad/daughter dance, I've been to a ton of weddings in Oz but not recently, I don't recall that ever, is it a new thing?

Just sign a few blank cheques, leave 'em on the table and head down to the pub
