I think the Wivenhoe dam has a plug hole and someone's nicked the plug. Never known a dam that never ever receives or hangs on to water

Channel 7 has just been advising that heavy storms are heading SEQLD way, 20 minutes later we've got the loudest thunder crashing about overhead with some fairly bright lightning. Normal rain though. Oooh that was a long one

Well Gatton is reporting 150mm of rain the last 5 hours - that's Wivenhoe Dam country - I heard the SEQ water guy on the news saying Wivenhoe could be full by the end of this week - radar looking very good for that tonight!

Severe thunderstorm warnings right across the south east - BRISBANE CITY, GOLD COAST CITY, LOGAN CITY, MORETON BAY, IPSWICH CITY, SCENIC RIM, SOMERSET, REDLAND, CHERBOURG SHIRE and parts of the LOCKYER VALLEY, GYMPIE, SUNSHINE COAST, SOUTH BURNETT and TOOWOOMBA Council Areas.
Issued at 11:22 pm Wednesday, 19 November 2008.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 11:20 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Ipswich, Laidley, Rosewood and Toogoolawah. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast. They are forecast to affect Beenleigh, Gatton, Strathpine and Caboolture by 11:50 pm and Brisbane CBD, Maroochydore, Coolangatta, Cleveland, Redcliffe and Caloundra by 12:20 am.
Damaging winds, very heavy rainfall and flash flooding are likely.
Rainfalls of 80 to 100mm per hour have recently occurred in the Gatton and Rosewood areas
We also now have a FLOOD WARNING.
heavy rainfalls over Lockyer and Laidley Creeks and the Bremer River. Fast stream rises to moderate to major flood levels are expected along Lockyer and Laidley Creeks and nearby streams overnight tonight, including in the Helidon, Laidley and Gatton areas, extending to downstream areas during Thursday morning. Fast river rises to moderate flood levels are also expected tonight and Thursday in the Bremer River upstream from Ipswich and in Warrill Creek.
If you are in the flood area for any of these rivers, they are rising very fast and expected to rise fast throughout tomorrow, so please take care.

I have never seen rain like it......sometimes it's intense like that for a short while but last night it just went on and on and on......
The poor folks in Ipswich....the most severe part of the storm just sat right on top of them for about 2-3 hours swirling around....they really copped it out there!

I have never seen rain like it......sometimes it's intense like that for a short while but last night it just went on and on and on......
The poor folks in Ipswich....the most severe part of the storm just sat right on top of them for about 2-3 hours swirling around....they really copped it out there!

Went to use the Moggill Ferry this morning; closed due to half a dozen trees and a couple of yachts having rammed into it overnight. River way over the landing area. Even if I'd got across I think the Ipswich Line is off, Darra is flooded and the Ipswich motorway closed in one direction. It certainly makes for an interesting commute!
Having said all that, the place looks firkin great this morning!

We're in Moggill just over the river from Ipswich and we got a right soaking also. Well into the small hours of "it can't possibly rain any harder" rain.
Went to use the Moggill Ferry this morning; closed due to half a dozen trees and a couple of yachts having rammed into it overnight. River way over the landing area. Even if I'd got across I think the Ipswich Line is off, Darra is flooded and the Ipswich motorway closed in one direction. It certainly makes for an interesting commute!
Having said all that, the place looks firkin great this morning!
