Re: Queensland: Wettest September on record.
CURRENT SEVERE WEATHER WARNING
for Damaging wind gusts and flash flooding for people in the Southeast Coast district.
Issued at 5:25 pm on Sunday 10 October 2010
Synoptic Situation:
An intensifying high over the Tasman Sea. A deep trough off the southern Queensland coast.
The combination of these two systems is expected to produce wind gusts in excess of 90 km/hr, mainly along the exposed coast and over the islands. As the trough moves closer to the coast expect increasing rain overnight with locally moderate to heavy falls developing, with the possibility of flash flooding.
The State Emergency Service advises that people in the affected area should:
· seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees
· secure loose outdoor items
· beware of fallen trees and powerlines
· avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters
Contact the SES on 132 500 for emergency assistance if required.
That includes sandbagging, roofs leaking, trees down on houses etc, rising floodwaters, need to be rescued if trapped by floodwater. Please be patient, they are very busy and some jobs cannot be done at night for safety reasons.
If it is a matter of life and death, don't call 132 500, CALL 000

Go to the area of Queensland you are interested in, (on the side menu where it says Zoom In) then hover over the dots. The amount of rainfall will then show up in a little box. You can set it for 24 hours, since 9am, or Last 1 hour.
At present we're looking at around 70mm since 9am on both the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
