Re: Queensland: Wettest September on record.
Its not unknown, they usually become lows before they get this far south but its possible. Tropical cyclone Hamish early last year was on a course at one point to impact directly onto Brisbane, and you'll have heard of the floods of 1974, they were caused by Cyclone Wanda which actually came ashore just 150km north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast.

Re: Queensland: Wettest September on record.
There has been a fair bit of muttering for a few weeks about it being likely to be a wet season though, and as the Atlantic hurricanes have been pretty active we are thinking the Coral Seas could go the same way. Also the floods which we have already had out west - Birdsville for instance - are very early.
The last season had a lot of water around, but was pretty quiet on the cyclone front, whih is ominous.......

I'll try not to complain too much, having lived in the UK for the last 10 years.
I'll need some time to acclimatize.

I can believe it! Non-stop rain here too. Not heavy though.

Re: Queensland: Wettest September on record.
Have been up to Brisbane a couple of times in the last few weeks and it has chucked it down the whole time. Everyone keeps saying to me "its not normally like this". I am here at moment too as we decided hubby would fly up to join me as he has never been. Not looked out of the window yet.
