Even if you think you are in an area of Queensland not normally under threat from bushfires you should stay informed in the current conditions. Irs a bit of a cliche, but you will not get a fire fighter at your door telling you to leave. They are too busy.Yu need to monitor your local conditions, stay tuned to ABC radio and keep up to date on the links above.

Have your bushfire plan ready and stick to it. These are unprecedented conditions for Queensland and they re not going to ease in a hurry

Weather Situation

Severe to Extreme fire dangers will continue over southeastern and central districts through the remainder of today, with locally catastrophic fire dangers remaining possible over inland parts of the Capricornia district and eastern parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields district until tonight. These very significant fire dangers are due to the combination of hot conditions and strong, gusty, dry westerly winds. Fires under these conditions will develop and spread extremely rapidly.



Winds will decrease on Thursday, though hot and dry conditions will continue, resulting in Severe fire dangers over inland parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays district.

Bushfire warning level: WATCH AND ACT

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in Oxenford and conditions could get worse.

You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.

Currently as at 5.10pm Wednesday, 28 November, a bushfire is travelling in a easterly direction from the corner of Yallaroi Road and Kopps Road towards Sturt Street, Bass Court, Woodbridge Place, Davis Cup Court, McNamara Court, Hopman Court and Wimbledon Way in Oxenford.

Fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door.

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.

Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe your property is under threat.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
• Listen to your local radio station or visit the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website for regular updates.
• If you have a bushfire survival plan, finalise it now so you are ready to follow it.
• If you do not have a bushfire survival plan, or if your plan is to leave, identify where you will go if you leave the area.
• Advise family and friends of your plan.
• Close windows and doors to minimise smoke exposure.
• If you suffer from a respiratory condition, keep your medication close by.
• Drive with caution in low visibility conditions.
• Contact your neighbours to see if they need help preparing for the bushfire.
• Pack important documents and essential items (e.g., passports, birth certificates, prescription medication, food and water, and protective clothing) in case you need to leave the area.
• Put on protective clothing (e.g., a long-sleeved cotton shirt, boots with thick soles).
• Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
• Bring pets inside; restrain them with a leash, a cage, or inside a secure room; and provide them with plenty of water.
• Take action to protect your livestock.
• Move flammable materials such as doormats, wheelie bins, and outdoor furniture away from your house.
• Fill containers such as your bath, sinks, and buckets with water so you have access to drinking water and firefighting water.
• Close windows and doors, sealing the gaps under doors and screens with wet towels to keep smoke out of the house.

Bushfire warning level: EMERGENCY WARNING

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire approaching Campwin Beach. Leaving immediately is the safest option, as it will soon be too dangerous to drive.

Follow your bushfire survival plan now. If you do not have a plan, your safest option is to leave immediately if it is clear to do so. If you cannot leave, identify where you will seek shelter from the bushfire. If you are not in the area, do not return, as conditions are too dangerous.

Currently as at 1.50am Thursday 29 November, a severe fast-moving fire is travelling in a northerly direction towards Campwin Beach. It is expected to impact Campwin Beach within the next thirty minutes. The fire is expected to have a significant impact on the community.

Conditions are now very dangerous and firefighters may soon be unable to prevent the fire advancing. The fire may pose a threat to all lives directly in its path. Fire crews may not be able to protect your property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door: act now.
Power, water, and mobile phone service may be lost and road conditions may become very dangerous over the next several hours.

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.

Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you are under threat.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
• Listen to your local radio station or visit the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website for regular updates.
• Put on protective clothing (e.g., a long-sleeved cotton shirt, boots with thick soles).
• Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
• If you suffer from a respiratory condition, keep your medication close by.

If you are leaving:
• Secure your pets for safe transport.
• Check for road closures and then advise family and friends of your intended travel route.
• Take your important documents and essential items (e.g., passports, birth certificates, prescription medication, food and water, and protective clothing) when you leave.
• Drive with caution in low visibility conditions.

If you are unable to leave:
• Bring pets inside; restrain them with a leash, a cage, or inside a secure room; and provide them with plenty of water.
• Fill containers such as your bath, sinks, and buckets with water so you have access to drinking water and firefighting water.
• Close windows and doors, sealing the gaps under doors and screens with wet towels to keep smoke out of the house.
• Identify a safe spot to shelter in, which would be a place with more than one exit, preferably inside a brick building, away from windows and doors. The safest spot is the place that will keep you furthest away from the intense heat from the fire. As the fire approaches and passes, the safest spot will change, so be ready to move.

RESIDENTS of a community in the path of a Fraser Coast bushfire who have yet to leave their properties have been told by authorities it’s now too late to do so.
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service at 3.10pm issued a warning telling remaining residents at Tinnanbar they should seek shelter.

“Currently as at 3.10pm, a large fire is travelling in a north-easterly direction near Tinnanbar,” the warning said.

Weather Situation

Winds will decrease today compared to Wednesday, however will remain moderate to fresh and gusty at times. The winds will combine with the continuing hot and dry conditions to result in elevated fire dangers across the state, with Severe fire dangers forecast over inland parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays district.

A 21-year-old man has died after being hit by a falling tree while trying to clear a fire break on his family's property in central Queensland.
He was cutting a tree with a chainsaw when it fell and trapped him at Rolleston, on the Central Highlands, west of Gladstone.

There are still over 100 bushfires burning across the state and many are not yet contained and can still require short notice evacuations. Emergency Alerts are still being issued but everyone should stay alert and monitor their local situation Fires continue to break out right across the state so we can't become complacent. The sooner you hear a warning and are informed of the situation, the more time you will have to follow directions and stay safe.

All residents who have evacuated are encouraged to register through the Red Cross Service, Register.Find.Reunite. If you are looking for someone who was evacuated or otherwise affected, you can register and check on Register.Find.Reunite.from a computer or any mobile device.

Some facts, for anyone interested:

• As at 14.00 yesterday (December 2nd) Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are currently attending more than 108 bushfires across the state. There are several significant fires, particularly in Central Queensland.
• 35 aircraft have also been operating across Queensland and yesterday (2nd), 24 water-bombing aircraft conducted 757 drops on fires, dropping a total of 1.5million litres of suppressant (includes water, foam and gel). One of these helicopters conducted 83 drops throughout the day and released 194,000 litres of water on the Deepwater and Captain Creek fires. One of those aircraft is a newly-adapted Boeing 737 that is in Queensland from the NSW RFS.
• Almost 400 Firefighters have come from across Australia to assist.
• Fire bans remain in place for 42 Local Government Areas across the state and everyone needs to ensure they are complying with ban restrictions. Information about these restrictions are available at www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au
• Disaster declarations remain current in the Mackay, Rockhampton and Gladstone areas
• Depending on fire and smoke hazards it is anticipated there may be intermittent closures of some roads to ensure safety of motorists and emergency services personnel. For the most up to date information on road conditions visit www.qldtraffic.qld.gov.au.
• If you see an unattended fire, please report it immediately to Triple Zero (000). The sooner we have crews on scene, the better.
