2 or 3 inches (50-75mm) in a day is "peeing it down" & we need about 2 weeks worth of those sort of days to fill the dams down here.

We had a downpour from about 8pm to 7am the other week that definitely dumped a good inch and a half on our block but it was very localised. Three Kms up the road had half an hour of drizzle Unfortunately we don't have a dam here so it made us greener and the rest went down the drain to flow out to sea - because the sea needs it

I experienced 17" in one day in Florida about ten years ago, on top of a month of fairly constant wet weather.

Now *that's* a wet! (With apologies to Paul Hogan...)

How many inches?? Now you 2 are just bragging .

Ohhh hang on, you're talking about rain LOL .

Seriously - thats what we need, especially in the catchments where its needed! 33 years ago next week we were in the worst flood ever in Brisbane, now we are literally shrivelling up as we speak .

The flood will come again at some point but like Moneypenny says it's all the good stuff they let go down the drain in the meantime.

yes it is mate! 125 kmh winds (although they have eased now) and 1 bloke killed round the corner (Bridgnorth, Shropshire) when a tree fell on his 4x4! The expected downpour hasn't really arrived yet but we have been assured that this will continue till after dark (about 4.30). Deep joy!!

See seven killed in UK and more in Europe must have hit hard in places.

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/s...003402,00.html

Plus it seems Aus should have built it's dams in Bergen..."In Norway, the west coast city of Bergen had notched up 82 consecutive days of rain by today".

Seems the weather has gone completely mad world wide, Germany had storms over the whole country and USA has had snow in areas that don't normally get it and major ice storms in ones that do.

Add to that 50 cm of rain in Coober Peedy - don't think they knew what rain was before today - rivers overflowing in Alice Springs and Ti Tree.......its all gone mad.
