This is truly shocking. My thoughts are with you all.
I think Soapy has a sister in the South Island. Hope she is nowhere near this.

My friends there are ok but their houses are damaged.
Not sure of the details as hearing it all second hand.

Why blame them? They told us thousands of years ago the end was nigh, were in the final build up right now , IMHO something must be on the way, the worlds gone mad, the weathers gone mad and you cant blame it all on climate change.
Massive heaps of best wishes and hope for the people of NZ, it looks awful from what ive seen on the news, really terrible.

managed by Environment Canterbury. It was set up to collate a range of sources relating to the September 2010 Canterbury Earthquake and has been reactivated in response to the February 22nd 2011 Earthquake.

Re: Nasty earthquake in NZ - people killed
If anyone wants to understand earthquakes a little more then there is some really good info on the BBC website.
Apparently these earthquakes are the result of very very old fault lines which have reactivated. It was saying that after the September one the aftershocks (although someone said on the tv that they were actually new quakes and not technically aftershocks) were diminishing and some days there weren't any which actually signalled a big one could be about to hit.
It does help to understand what goes on over there. Hearing that NZ continually shakes I'm amazed anyone lives there, I don't think I could live with that so hats off to everyone who does live there. The little one we had in Mellie was freaky enough.
Hope all BE NZers are safe.

Why post this shit?? Offensive title for a start: Haiti v Chch earthquake, it's not a football match FFS
I gave it a chance and soon realised it was just a chance to air some dubious points of view that no one wants to know about. Haiti and Chch- two very different situations and circumstances-did you even watch this before you posted it, did you really think it was appropriate or even going to be acceptable? I don't often get angry but this has really pissed me off.
I am living through what's going on in Chch and even though I have been very lucky the stress and constant fear is not lessening. People have died and may well be dying, my partner is helping out and I don't know how safe he is. Concentrate on the facts and what is really relevant and quit trying to make some disgraceful and racist issue out of what is happening here .

The OP is being "dealt with" as they posted similar videos after the tragic flooding in toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley over here in January. They got the benefit of the doubt then but this time........
