Mountain Creek (Sunshine Coast)- Grass Fire
Mountain Creek (Sunshine Coast) – grass fire as at 3pm
7/12/2013 2:57:44 PM
Sixteen Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews remain on scene at a large grass fire burning in the vicinity of Kawana Way, Mountain Creek. The fire, which broke out around 11.20am, is moving towards the Chancellor Park area. There continues to be no threat to property at this time, however, residents in Mountain Creek, Chancellor Park and surrounding areas will be affected by a large smoke haze as fire crews undertake backburning operations. Residents are asked to close windows and doors, stay indoors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medication close by. Motorists travelling in the area, particularly along Kawana Way, are urged to drive to conditions. Residents are asked to avoid the area while fire crews continue to conduct firefighting operations.
