Re: FIRES! Is everyone ok?
Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone. We are in the northern suburbs so it didn't get to us, luckily we were only evacuated out of a shopping centre and the sky was just a big dust ball. I hope everyone is safe and can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like for those closer to the fires.

The worst part at present, is listening to people on the radio putting out calls for missing relatives.
One bloke yesterday didn't know where his wife and 3 kids were 18 hours after he last heard from them, He knew they had taken off in a car, and knew from ariel photos that his house had burnt down in Pheasant Creek. They weren't at any of the shelters.

It is all a bit difficult to take in. Many friends have lost everything and have lost parents, brothers, sisters, other family members. Some are injured and in hospital, but thankfully alive.
Been putting up friends who had to do a runner, and friends are still getting news about who has been killed and who is still missing. Every so often we get a call to say another friend has lost their home.
Two friends were relaxing in the garden and the kids were in the pool when they had to just go - the kids have nothing but the swimsuits they were wearing.
Its been an exhausting and emotional weekend. There are some horrific stories coming from our friends who escaped.
It all happened so quickly at Kinglake and St Andrews.
Pretty much all of our friends and family have been directly affected.
It is shocking and so sad.
Death toll now at 126. 33 of these from Kinglake so far. 6 from St Andrews.
And there are still lots of fires burning.

Absolute shock over what has happened. Being a recent pommie migrant I had no idea that things could be this bad. Sincere sympathies to all those affected by this.

Re: FIRES! Is everyone ok?
So guys, how are the Pakenham fires going overnight? Still burning strong or did the cooler weather stay around overnight and allow the firies to get some control? Got an email from my sis late yesterday Dubai time (night time in Victoria), her husband had just arrived home from helping out and she was cut off from her three daughters by road block, but they were all okay, hoping that's still the case.
I was working up in Kinglake last night so I don't have any more than what you can get on the news. The reality is that these fires continue to burn. We can't get into the forest as it's too dangerous and there won't be enough aircraft to put the fire out completely. This is the worst ever, worse than Ash Wednesday, although that affected a wider region. Worse than 1939. For some reason, probably fire location, the toll of this is far far higher.
It's not over yet either.

I cant believe how quickly and how bad the fires have taken over.
Poor poor families there. xxxxxxxx
My workplace & staff have pledged all profits and tips from this week to go towards the appeal. Wont be a huge amount, but hopefully it'll help.

Re: FIRES! Is everyone ok?
I am so worried about my family and friends.
I know there were fires in Coldstream does anyone know what happened?
Got friends in Healesville and Marysville i am just praying they are safe
I think Healesville missed the worst of it, Marysville wasn't so lucky
Hope they are ok.

I've been following this all weekend on the news, heartbreaking, our thoughts are with you guys on the ground. BTW whatever anyone says about K Rudd the man has a heart, very upsetting watching him last night, we were all in tears.
