Fire Weather Warning - Queensland, including SE & Brisbane
FIRE WEATHER WARNING
for the Southeast Coast, Darling Downs & Granite Belt, Channel Country and parts of the Wide Bay & Burnett, Maranoa & Warrego and Northwest districts.
Issued at 5:03am EST on Sunday the 7th of October 2012 for today.
Dry, hot and fresh and gusty W to SW winds are expected to cause the following conditions today.
Severe Fire Danger south and west of a line from Mt Isa to Windorah to Charleville to Gympie. Temperatures up to 39 degrees, relative humidity down to about 10% and wind to 45 km/hr are expected. Locations which may be affected include Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba, St George, Thargomindah, Birdsville and Boulia.
The next warning will be issued by 11 am.

for the Channel Country, Northwest, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and
Granite Belt and parts of the Central West districts.
Issued at 10:52am EST on Wednesday the 10th of October 2012 for today.
A cold front is situated across South Australia and is moving in an eastwards
direction. The front is expected to continue moving in an eastwards direction
and move across western and parts of southern Queensland later today.
Dry, hot and gusty W to NW winds ahead of the front are expected to cause the following conditions today:
Severe Fire Danger in the Northwest, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and southwest parts of the Central West districts.
Temperatures up to 41 degrees, relative humidity down to about 10% and winds to about 40 km/hr are expected. Locations likely to be affected include Mount Isa, Longreach, Charleville, Dalby and Inglewood.
Dry, fresh to strong and gusty S to SW winds following the front are also
expected to cause the following conditions today:
Severe Fire Danger in the Channel Country district.
Temperatures up to 36 degrees, relative humidity down to about 10% and winds to about 50 to 60 km/hr are expected. Locations likely to be affected include Birdsville and Windorah.
The next warning will be issued by 5pm AEST.

ADVICE message for a bushfire in Springside (Toowoomba) 10/10/2012 1:55:35 PM
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service is advising:
A large grass fire is currently burning in the vicinity of Irongate Road, Springside, in the Toowoomba region. Multiple fire crews are at the scene and more crews are responding to the fire which broke out around midday.
Fire crews are currently conducting structure protection for homes in the area. It is believed the fire is fast moving and currently has a 200m front. The fire is not under control at this time.
Residents should consider taking precautionary measures including:
• Put on protective clothing
• Drink lots of water
• Move car/s to a safe location
• Close windows and doors and shut blinds
• Bring pets inside and restrain them (leash, cage or secure room) and provide water
• Wet down fine fuels close to buildings
• Remove garden furniture, doormats and other items
• Seal all gaps under doors and screens
• Fill containers with water - eg bath, sinks, buckets, wheelie bins, etc
• Have ladders ready for roof space access (inside) and against roof (outside)
• Have generator or petrol pump ready
• Check and patrol outside for embers and extinguish any spot fires and seek shelter as the fire front arrives.

Vegetation fires, Moongan & Hamilton Creek, Mount Morgan and the Gemfields

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews are on scene at a vegetation fire on Caliiungal Lane, Moongan. Firefighters were called to the fire yesterday evening and are currently putting in fire breaks.
Multiple Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews are on scene at a vegetation fire on Cooks Road, Hamilton Creek. Firefighters were called to the fire at approximately 10.45am.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews are on scene at a vegetation fire on Goanna Flats Rd, The Gemfields. Firefighters were called to the fire around 1.40pm and are working to contain the fire.
There are no homes at threat but the fire is causing significant amounts of smoke. Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed and if they suffer from respiratory illness, keep medication close by. Motorists are advised to drive to conditions and be cautious of firefighters and their vehicles working in the area.
