I'm in the UK till the weekend and a couple of hours ago the wife texted me saying there was a bushfire in Gooseberry hill but not to worry as it was no where near the house. So obviously I panicked and went online and found the fire was only about 800 yards away.

When ever you hear the "don't worry" etc do you panic?

Thankfully it has been contained now.

I know that area as a friend bought her first Aussie house in one of those roads.

Lucky escape by the sounds of it.

Now that was a bushfire. I think there were 5-6 helitacs and 2 fixed wing water bombers. It got really close to homes - maybe under 50m. I think that most residents were lucky as the wind seemed to be blowing away from most properties. We were not close but friends of ours were and they evacuated.

Wel done to FESA and the CFA - we would be f**ked without them.

It's gonna be a long summer.....
