Fire Name: TANTANOOLA Time Message Issued: 15:00 Date Message Issued: 02/01/2015 EMERGENCY WARNING FOR A BUSHFIRE BURNING UNDER EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS CFS advises that a serious bushfire is burning out of control at Tantanoola and Glencoe in the Lower South East near Mill Hill Road. The TANTANOOLA fire is travelling in a South Easterly direction towards Princess Hwy and The Bluff Burrungle. There is a risk to lives and homes. The uncontrolled fire is burning in Scrub. Check and follow your Bushfire Survival Plan. If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the path is clear before conditions become too dangerous. You should not enter this area as the roads may not be safe. Homes that are situated and constructed or modified to withstand a bushfire, and that are prepared to the highest level and actively defended, may provide safety. BUSHFIRE EMERGENCY WARNING: TANTANOOLA Time Message Issued: 15:59, 02/01/2015 CFS advises that a serious bushfire is burning out of control at Tantanoola and Glencoe Region in the Lower South East near Mile Hill Road, The Overland Track Diagonal Road and the Princess Highway. The TANTANOOLA fire is travelling in a South Easterly direction towards The Bluff and the Princess Highway and potentially toward Glencoe as the wind swings Westerly. There is a risk to lives and homes. The uncontrolled fire is burning in Forest. Check and follow your Bushfire Survival Plan. Take shelter before the fire arrives as radiant heat can kill you well before the flames reach you. Only leave if the path is clear to a safe place. You should not enter this area as the roads may not be safe. Homes that are situated and constructed or modified to withstand a bushfire, and that are prepared to the highest level and actively defended, may provide safety. Although the immediate threat to public safety has reduced the fire may still threaten your safety. Residents of the Glencoe, Glencoe West, Tantanoola and Burrungle areas will need to remain vigilant as fire conditions may change due to fluctuating weather conditions.
